Description:
A linear voltage regulator module with split rail output based on 78xx and 79xx series regulators. This module was designed to supply continuous currents of up to 1A per rail and can form a complete power supply when used with a suitable transformer with dual or centre-tapped secondaries. Typical applications include audio equipment and other analogue systems that require both positive and negative supply rails.

Construction:
The module is built on a single sided PCB that is 64mm long and 33mm wide. The height of the module typically depends on the height of C5 and C6. The tabs of the regulators overhang the edge of the board by 2mm to allow them to be fixed to a heatsink. The overhang distance can be adjusted by appropriately forming the leads of IC1 and IC2 during construction. Four isolated M3 mounting holes are provided at the corners of the board. All electrical connections are via 2.54mm pitch Molex® KK series connectors.
